TEXAS!

We have arrived! What a long journey, especially with 5 children. We started out earlier than expected due to snowy weather. It took over 2 hours to get through Pittsburgh! It was awful. The roads were flooded so we had to detour, well us and 3000 other people. We sat and sat and sat. Used a whole tank of gas before we got out of town. Frustrating! Finally we got out of town and started moving. The trip was suppose to take 20 hours. Well when you have 5 children, 3 of which that are potty trained well...it just doesnt happen like that. It felt like every time we got moving some little voice coming from the back would say," I have to use the bathroom." LOL.

We had a plan of things we would see but threw that out due to leaving early and peeing often. The first real stop we made was in Tennessee. Loretta Lynn's museum. Awesome! So we went there saw some pics of Loretta Lynn and then found a geo cache. Then the next stop was Memphis! I really enjoyed Memphis. Graceland was beautiful! It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be but really nice. I saw the outside of Elvis' jets. They were huge. My favorite part was the wall outside of Elvis' house. It was covered in thousands of messages from fans. We didnt have a pen. Bummer! After we took some pics there we went to a little place called Soul Food. The smell upon entering was over whelming. It was grease. Lots and lots of grease. I like to try new things and new places so I was up for it. I hate a fish sandwich n fries. It was great! Greasy but great! When I picked up the ketchup bottle it stuck to my hand. S T I C K Y!

On the road again! Arkansas about killed me. I kid you not, at one point I thought we were on a loop like a hamster in a wheel. I thought we would never see Texas. Was there a Texas or only Arkansas. Finally after what seemed like a decade we got to Texarkana! Whoot Whoot! I was in two places at once, but so drained that we did not stop to document it. Oh well, finally TEXAS! Lemme tell you when they say its God's country they really mean it and God obliges them. It was stunning. Absolutely stunning! We got in really late and just wanted to sleep. We had slept in the car the day before so I was aching for a bed.

We got lost on the way to the hotel. Then we found it, unfortunately. It was in a horrible part of town. We get to our non smoking room and open the door to a huge whiff of smoke. GAG! It took no time for my families allergies to start getting bad. All I wanted to do was sleep but first had to get online so I could find out when and where church was in the morning. The internet we paid for didnt work! I was frustrated so I called down to the front desk, oh wait no I didnt because the phone didnt work!!! It felt like a horror film. I called from my cell and they told me to steal teh internet from the hotel across the street. Well they didnt say steal but thats what it is when you use someones elses internet bc you are too dang cheap to buy your own. So beyond livid at this point. I get in the cold shower and pull the dirty cloth across that is I am guessing, a shower curtain and then get out, at least its done. Now bed! The sheets were dirtier than the towels and shower curtain. The smell was so bad I couldnt take it. The lady did offer us another room a few doors down. It had ashtrays and cigarettes all over the place, we declined. Apparently she didnt know the difference between smoking and non. I was so exhausted I finally fell asleep on the dirty stained sheets.

Well its late so more on our adventure tomorrow.

Be blessed

  1. I'm thinking your hotel is the rent-by-the-hour kind. Eeewww! I'm sorry your experience wasn't so great. Did you change hotel's?
